BIONICS AND GRAPHIC DESIGN
A CONNECTION OF NATURAL PROCEDURES
This book is the first collection of research and projects which deal with the connection of bionics and graphic design. The thesis of this book deals with the implementation of nature inspired procedures into graphic and signage systems. If an architecture is build upon the inspiration of a natural role model, then the graphic design installed in the foreseen building should also follow the same natural origin. Signage sytems should follow the architectural and intellectual origins of the building, therefore a biological inspired building should have a signage system which is inspired by the same natural role model. Bionics often times deal with materiality but how can a natural procedure be analysed and translated into two-dimensional graphics? Is there a way to find new signage systems by looking at biological procedures? Is it possible to translate bionics into typefaces or pictograms? This book is a personal collection of those unsanswered questions and projects which deal with this thesis.
